    Shihan Christopher Allen

    Christopher Allen is our Chief Instructor and the owner of Tring Martial Arts Academy. He set up Tring Martial Arts Academy (TMA) in July 2005 and since then TMA has continued to grow and expand.
    Christopher is a Professional Martial Arts instructor and is a fully accredited Martial Arts and Fitness Instructor with the Professional Martial Arts College. His Master Instructor is Kyoshi Dave Kovar 8th Degree and his principle instructor is Ken Pankiewicz 6th Degree. Christopher invests alot of time and money into his own development and the development of his staff which is why TMA is an internationally recognised centre of excellence.

    Sensei Paula Andrews

    Paula Andrews is the Head Instructor of the Kids Martial Arts Programme and she is also our Programme Director.
    Paula has been instrumental in the growth of our kids martial arts programme and is well-loved by all her students. She is very kind, encouraging and hard-working and wonderful positive role model for our children. She has worked at TMA since 2008.

    Sensei Laura Hobson

    Laura Hobson is a legend at Tring Martial Arts Academy. She joined us in 2010 as a size 20 dress with zero confidence in herself and a very poor standard of fitness. Now Laura is a role model instructor whose personal commitment to her training and to TMA have been an inspiration to her many students. Black Belt 2nd Dan.

    Catherine Birkinhead

    Senior Instructor
    Catherine has trained in Tai Chi Chuan for over fifteen years with experience in Yang Style and in more recent years Wudang style. Her Lineage is through Sifu Dan Docherty and Cheng Tin Hung, which is closely related to the Wu style. She has been a Tai Chi Instructor in the Herts, Bucks & Beds area for the last 5 - 6 years. Recent accomplishments include 5 times silver medallist at 2015 Tai Chi European Championships and British Champion at 2014 British Open Tai Chi Championships as well as experience of Competition Judging. Catherine enjoys sharing her passion and knowledge of Tai Chi with all ages, all abilities and is looking forward to this new opportunity to join the team and bring her Tai Chi experience to Tring Martial Arts Academy.

    Personal Trainer / Injury Rehab Specialist
    I have won 5 national awards in 4 years. 3 of which were Great Britain New You achievement awards. Richard Millar won the shape category and overall male awards in 2008 by losing 11 stone in one year. Geoff Beddell won the strength/rehabilitation category in 2011 by going from being totally bedridden, wheelchair bound and facing amputation to running completely unaided in one year aged 79.
    I was awarded the Great Britain Personal Trainer of the year award in 2011 and I'm a guest writer for men's fitness magazine.
    I have been heavily involved in training some of the Great Britain Olympic relay swim team for the London Olympics 2012.

    Tring Marital Arts Academy is proud to introduce Pam Nicklin who teaches Ba Duan Jin (8 Treasures) Qigong.
    This is a set of 8 simple exercises which has been practised unchanged throughout China for nearly 1000 years. Originally, it was used by the Chinese army to give strength and health in harsh adverse conditions. Nowadays, the set is performed to invigorate and strengthen the whole body including the internal organs. One set takes about 10 minutes to do, and can be done daily for maximum benefits.

    Head Instructor Sophie is a fully qualified trainer who is passionate about helping each and every individual achieve their fitness goals whilst also improving their health.
    Sophie is excited to be able to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with clients of all ages and abilities. She looks forward to welcoming you to a TMA Fitness Class, Transformation Camp or Private 1-1 very soon!
