Christopher Allen

Started Training - 1999

Last Assessment - May 2010

Grade - Black Belt 3rd Dan (Next assessment 2014)

"I started to ramp up my training for 3rd degree about 6 months before the scheduled date, focusing on running for endurance, sprint training for short burst energy. At the gym I performed compound exercises such as Power Cleans, Jump Squats and other strength building exercises. It is important however not to bulk up ahead of the assessment. A careful diet is important too".

Last Assessment -March 2011

Grade - Black Belt 1st Dan (next assessment 2013)

"In preparation for my 1st Dan I trained on average 4-5 hourse per week as well as sparring for 2 hours. I managed to fit this training around the class I teach for Chris on Friday's. I did alot of running and performed weighted squats and other free weight based exercises at home. I also cut out all takeaways and junk foods completely from my diet and ate more carb and protein rich foods. Achieving Black Belt is a wonderful achievement and I would recommend it to everyone"!

Started Training - Jan 2007

Last Assessment - March 2011

Grade - Black Belt 1st Dan (next assessment 2013)

"Prior to my assessment, in fact for most of my training at TMA, I trained up to 9 hours per week. I think it is really important to be consistent, to add some form of endurance activity to your training such as running and to maintain a carefully balance diet. Make sure you extend your activity outside of training and focus on your goals".

Jenni CannonJenni Cannon

Started Training - Nov 2006

Grade - Black Belt 1st Dan (next assessment 2012)

"In preparation for my 1st Dan I attended 4-5 hours of training per week, running and doing a fitness regime which I was able to fit around my revision for my GCSE's. I increased my protein and carb intake two weeks prior to the assessment. My advice for any student preparing for Black Belt or any other grade for that matter would be to carefully plan your training well in advance of the assessment and stick to your plans. Chris was able to give my lots of training tips and advice so seek out his help and advice, which he his more than happy to give".
